Bishop Bernard &
Mary Lee Henderson
1976 – 2026 · Year of Jubilee
Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ is celebrating 50 years of worship, community, and God's unending grace in Grandview, Missouri.

Bishop Benjamin &
Latonya Stephens

On August 1st, 1976, Bishop Wellington Bernard Henderson and his wife Mary Lee loaded up their family, walked through the doors of a small space on Linwood and Woodland in Kansas City, and started a church. Their congregation that day: six people and one other member.
Fifty years later, that seed has grown into a thriving, multigenerational community on 33 acres in Grandview, a church that feeds its neighbors, raises up its young people, and keeps saying yes to whatever God asks next.
Ordinary people living an extraordinary story together.

Bishop Stephens was called to Trinity Temple in 2011, and in the years since, this church has not stopped growing. He came to Grandview from West Angeles COGIC in Los Angeles, where he served under Bishop Charles E. Blake Sr. for over a decade, and he brought with him a passion for multigenerational ministry, community impact, and preaching that changes how you live Monday through Saturday.
He is joined by Lady Latonya Stephens, First Lady and Worship Coordinator, and together they have given themselves to this church and this community.

From seven people in a Kansas City storefront to a congregation known across the city, the story of Trinity Temple is a story of faithfulness, sacrifice, and grace. This summer, we stop and say thank you. To God. To Bishop Henderson and Lady Mary Lee. To every person who gave, served, prayed, and showed up when it mattered.
Under the leadership of Bishop Benjamin Stephens, III, Trinity Temple is alive and moving. New families are finding their home here. Neighbors are being fed. Young people are stepping into their calling. The same fire that started this church is still burning.
The Year of Jubilee is not just a look back. It is a declaration about what comes next. We are believing God for the next fifty years, and we want you to be part of what He does here.

Whether you have been at Trinity Temple since the beginning, grew up here and moved away, or just want to celebrate with a church that loves its city, you are welcome. The Year of Jubilee belongs to all of us.
